The Emerging Psychologists Program (EPP) 2024, organized by the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Education, Charles University, was a pivotal initiative within the International Congress of Psychology (ICP) 2024. This program prepared future psychologists to address global challenges by fostering research skills, cultural sensitivity, and professional networks. EPP brought together 38 doctoral students from 20 countries across five continents, selected from 130 applicants for their potential to contribute to psychology and their societies. Spanning 12 months, EPP featured four structured phases: Phase 1: Introduction and Group Formation Participants introduced themselves and their dissertation topics, forming six thematic working groups based on shared research interests, creating a foundation for collaboration. Phase 2: Collaborative Engagement Through online meetings and recorded reflections, participants provided feedback on research, tackled methodological challenges, and built academic and personal connections. Phase 3: On-Site Program in Prague Held before ICP 2024, the four-day event featured: Methodological Workshops: Advanced topics like meta-analysis and randomized controlled trials. Culture-Sensitive Presentations: Insights into regional psychology practices, comparing global and local contexts. Thematic Group Discussions: Reflecting on PhD progress, lifelong learning, and unresolved research questions. Career Development: Panels with experienced professionals discussing academic and non-academic career paths. Czech undergraduate students supported logistics and networked with participants, enriching their academic experience. Phase 4: ICP Engagement and Beyond At ICP 2024, participants engaged in discussions with global psychology leaders, continuing collaboration and maintaining their network post-congress. Key Outcomes: Formation of strong professional and personal networks, fostering joint publications. Enhanced cultural sensitivity for advancing global mental health practices. Expanded international experiences, bridging academic and cultural divides. EPP 2024 exemplifies impactful academic and professional collaboration, supporting ICP’s mission to advance psychology as a truly global discipline.
